“Meet the Artist” with Bryson Rand

On Thursday, April 18, we welcome Bryson Rand to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Rand will present two of his ongoing bodies of work made over the last 4 years. This event will be live-streamed on CPW’s YouTube Page at 6 pm.

Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 474 Broadway in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served. “Meet the Artist” is made possible by a generous grant from the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.

Bryson Rand was born in Phoenix, AZ in 1982 as the son of an Air Force pilot, and spent his childhood living around the world on Air Force bases. In the summer of 2019 Bryson attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, received his MFA from Yale School of Art (2015), MAT from the School of Visual Arts (2009), and BFA from University of Colorado (2004). Bryson’s first solo exhibition, ‘Some Small Fever’, was held at La MaMa Galleria (NYC) in 2017. In 2022 he had a two-person show titled ‘Harness’ with Pat McNabb, curated by Peter Clough, at The Empty Circle Gallery in Brooklyn. His photographs have been exhibited across the United States in group exhibitions at Fraenkel Gallery, Regen Projects, Yossi Milo Gallery, Blue Sky Gallery, The Leslie-Lohman Museum of Art, Abrons Art Center, as well as internationally at Capsule Venice in Venice, Italy, Cusp Gallery in Hangzhou, China, Denker+Schneider Gallery in Berlin, Germany, and at Museo Universitario Del Chopo in Mexico City, Mexico. Bryson’s work is held in the collections of the Leslie Lohman Museum, Oz Art, and numerous private collections. He has published two books with Raw Meat Collective, ‘Some Small Fever’ (2017) and ‘The Origins of Color’ (2018), as well as ‘Waters’ (2017) with Dashwood Books.  Bryson’s work has been included in numerous publications, including Der Greif, Dear Dave, Matte Magazine, VICE, and NEWSPAPER and has been featured on ArtForum.com. Bryson is currently a Visiting Assistant Professor of Photography at Bard College. He lives in Brooklyn with his husband, Ryan.
