“Meet the Artist” with Harlan Bozeman and Salvador Espinoza

November 7, 2024
Doors at 5:30 pm. Artist talk at 6 pm.
474 Broadway, Kingston, NY

On Thursday, November 7, we welcome Harlan Bozeman and Salvador Espinoza (current Woodstock AIRs) to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Bozeman will share several series of work from the past four years of his photographic practice. Espinoza will present his ongoing project on his home neighborhood of Long Island City as well as current work in progress The Given of the Place, a portrait series on the Salvadoran diaspora.

Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 474 Broadway in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served. “Meet the Artist” is made possible by a generous grant from the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.

Harlan Bozeman is an artist and educator based in Central Arkansas. His research-driven practice focuses on confronting the erasure of Black legacies and how this exploration influences one’s personhood. His previous work centers on Gullah Sea Islands communities, specifically Wadmalaw Island where his family is from, and the narratives that serve to prolong their cultural significance. A graduate of the University of Arkansas, Bozeman earned a MFA in Studio Art, and went to DePaul University in Chicago where he received a BA in Journalism. He recently attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and is a 2024 CatchLight Global fellow. His work has been featured in The Atlantic, British Journal of Photography, Der Grief, The New York Times, and The Wall Street Journal.
