On Thursday, July 10, we welcome Kathy High to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Kathy will present an overview of her artwork that uses performance, film, photography and conceptual approaches to art and science. She has worked with living systems, bioart, microbial life and resilient ecological practices for years. She will also discuss ongoing projects conducted with the community activist organization The Sanctuary for Independent Media and NATURE Lab (Troy, NY) looking at urban ecologies. Her upcoming FEAST event at CPW, Let the Plants Carry Us, considers our environmental collapse and health. Artworks and excerpts of interviews with our FEAST participants will also be shared in this talk to introduce the event. This event will be live-streamed on CPW’s YouTube page at 6pm.
Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 25 Dederick Street in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served.

Kathy High is an interdisciplinary artist working with art, technology and science. She collaborates with scientists and activists, considers living systems, animal sentience, queer ecologies, and the ethical dilemmas of biotechnology and medical industries.
She has received awards including the Guggenheim Foundation, Rockefeller Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts. Her artworks have been exhibited internationally at documenta 13 (Germany), Science Gallery (Ireland), Festival Transitio (Mexico), IMPACT Festival (Netherlands), Para-Site Gallery (Hong Kong), and more.
She is Professor in Arts and has a laboratory at Center for Biotechnology and Interdisciplinary Studies, at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), Troy, NY. She is co-Director of the community science project NATURE Lab focused on urban ecologies and community-led health initiatives, which is part of the Troy-based activist organization The Sanctuary for Independent Media.
