“Meet the Artist” with Pete Mauney

Thursday, May 22, 2025
Doors at 5:30 pm. Artist talk at 6 pm.
25 Dederick Street, Kingston, NY

On Thursday, May 22, we welcome Pete Mauney to “Meet the Artist” night at CPW. Pete will present images from his 13 years of obsessively photographing the fireflies of the Mid Hudson Valley every June and July. All photography guaranteed to be locally sourced, foraged from the roadsides and artisanally crafted into frantic/romantic tableaus of mind-bending bioluminescence run amok…which are lovingly, respectfully and factually captured with his cameras. This event will be live-streamed on CPW’s YouTube page at 6pm.

Join us every Thursday evening at CPW, when we host illuminating talks with local and visiting artists. “Meet the Artist” allows the public to get to know new work, to hear about artistic processes, and to meet friends and other local artists. The evening takes place at CPW’s gallery at 25 Dederick Street in Kingston, NY. It is free and open to the public. Coffee, tea, and snacks are served.

“Meet the Artist” is made possible by a generous grant from the Arnold and Augusta Newman Foundation.

Pete Mauney is most comfortable in the dark. Self-employed in image making and/or capture and/or reproduction for 4 long decades, day and night. Took several breaks to spend way too long in school where he somehow managed to get an MFA. From which he is still recovering. He has lived and worked and slept (a lot) in Tivoli, NY for almost 36 years.
