To progress as artists we need to go deep over an extended period of time. We also need the reflection and support of others who share our passion and commitment. We learn by doing and we learn by understanding how others experience our work.
The Project Salon is guided by artist Charles Purvis, and offers photographers the alchemy of an artistic community that is committed to supporting the creation of new bodies of work or reconnecting with past work in a new way. Participants present ongoing projects and receive and offer constructive reflection concerning subject, narrative, editing, presentation, and the overall arc and feel of the work. All formats and photographic mediums are welcome.
The Project Salon includes an introduction to CPW’s Digital Media Lab, selective assignments, information and writings on photography, and the occasional guest presenter. In March 2026, critique participants will be invited to hang work in progress on the community wall space on the second floor as a celebration of our collective experience.

ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:
From 1985 through 2006, CHARLES PURVIS was one of the top studio photographers in New York City, creating groundbreaking imagery for a wide variety of internationally known clients. In addition to commercial assignments, Charles has created a large body of innovative photography inspired by a relentless curiosity and desire to uncover the creative potential of the medium to enhance our experience of visual perception.
Charles has taught and mentored hundreds of people in photography, art, and creative expression. He understands the necessity of personal healing and is passionate in supporting people to realize their full creative potential.
