Photoshop Fundamentals: An Introductory Course for Photographers

Adobe Photoshop is a dynamic tool that transforms images to match each user’s unique photographic vision and philosophy. Participants will learn the basics of the interface, essential tools, non-destructive editing using layers, and selective adjustments. This course will focus on the fundamentals of photographic editing, including gaining an understanding of tonality and color. Through guided exercises and hands-on learning, the course will allow each user to refine editing techniques and to develop a personal workflow. Participants are encouraged to bring RAW files or high-resolution TIFFs.

WHEN: Saturdays, March 8, 15, 22, & 29.

TIME: 1-4 pm

WHERE: Digital Media Lab at 25 Dederick Street, Kingston, NY.

About the Instructor:
Alicia Schirrmeister has worked professionally for artists and cultural institutions, specializing in digital consulting, archiving, and artwork reproduction. Their personal photographic practice explores transition and boundary from within the vanishing salt marshes of the Eastern United States. As the Digital Media Lab Assistant, they oversee lab operations, maintain equipment, and provide training in digital editing, retouching, printing, and scanning.
