Special screening of Bill Daniel’s cult- classic film Who is Bozo Texino? This elegiac film traces a secret history of hobo graffiti as Daniel takes viewers on a quest to discover the mysterious Bozo Texino, whose mark is inscribed on the sides of innumerable freight trains. The legend of Bozo Texino is kept alive by a new generation of graffiti and train artists. Their work captures the yearnings of wanderlust, the ethical code of tramps, refusal and resignation to daily labor, and the creation of outsider identity.

This year marks the 50th anniversary of the birth of hip-hop. To celebrate, come out and enjoy this classic film directed by Charlie Ahearn in 1981. Shot in the South Bronx, the Lower East Side, and the MTA subway yards, Wild Style is a hybrid documentary and narrative musical. Raymond (Lee Quiñones), or “Zoro,” is an anonymous graffiti artist who confronts the Union Crew, a group of graffiti artists who have found mainstream success. A series of encounters with graffiti artists, rappers and breakers leads up to a giant rap-break concert in a Lower East Side band shell decorated by Raymond.
