Summer Print Sale to Support Woodstock AIR
We are thrilled to have photographer Genesis Báez partnering with us for a special print sale of her fabulous image pictured above. The Sound of a Circle, 2018 is a signed, 11 x 14″ inkjet print from an edition of 150, going for $250.
This beautiful chiaroscuro color image presents a quiet moment of intimacy between two women at a table, with one whispering into the other’s ear. The Sound of a Circle, was featured as part of the Whitney Museum’s Trust Me exhibition, and is permanently housed in the museum’s collection.
Proceeds from this print sale will go toward supporting Woodstock AIR, our artist residency program through which we first got to know Baez, who participated in it in 2022.
Based in Brooklyn, NY, Genesis Báez is an artist whose work in photography merges fiction, personal narratives, and social histories of modern de/colonization in a conversation around placemaking. In 2025, she published her first monograph Blue Sun (Capricious Publishing), weaving a decade of photographs made in Puerto Rico and its diaspora.
Born in Massachusetts, Báez was raised in New England and Puerto Rico. She has exhibited internationally including the Whitney Museum, Princeton University Art Museum, and Kilometro in San Juan, PR. Her works are held in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art, the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Yale University Art Museum, and the Detroit Institute of Art. Báez holds an MFA from the Yale School of Art and a BFA from MassArt. She is an alumni of the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, a 2022 NYFA/ NYSCA Photography Fellow, and the recipient of the 2022 Capricious Photo Award. Currently she is a 2025 Anschutz Distinguished Fellow at Princeton University, and an Assistant Professor of Art at Amherst College.
