Rightfully Included: Supporting Artists of Color Today
Panel discussion featuring Hannah Frieser (moderator), Daesha Devón Harris, Kevin Miyazaki and Annu Palakunnathu Matthew
Organizations such as En Foco, Autograph ABP, and the Center for Photography at Woodstock (through its residency program, Woodstock AIR) provide a nurturing environment for artists of color to critically explore issues such as diversity, race and identity in the context of social justice. Using CPW’s residency program as an example, this panel discussion considers the societal cost of systematic neglect of artists of color, the importance of programs that create opportunities for marginalized artists, and success stories by artists who have thrived despite today’s sociopolitical climate and personal challenges.
