Join us for January’s Photo Club as we welcome DocuClubHV for a night of documentary screenings of works-in-progress shorts for feedback. Get a sneak peek at some the film projects that are being produced in our area and participate in feedback discussions. Hosted by doc filmmaker and educator Melody Gilbert who believes it’s important to get out of the editing room and show your creative work in public before you are finished. All are welcome. You do not need to be a filmmaker to attend and give feedback.
*Refreshments and pizza will be provided, but feel free to BYOB as well as snacks to share.
The following films will be screened:
Lineage: Zeehan Wazed, directed by Bradford R. Devins / OWLEY Studios
A documentary short on New York based artist Zeehan Wazed’s path of creative convergence & flow; how humble beginnings in New York City lead to a life of self-discovery and expression through painting, dance, and more. This film is a work in progress, to be released in 2026.
From Bones to Bronze, directed by Evan Cohen When a controversial statue misrepresenting an indigenous massacre in Colorado is toppled, renowned sculptor Gerald Shippen is chosen to collaborate with Arapaho and Cheyenne descendants to create a replacement that honors the victims and corrects 160-years of distorted history. This “sizzle” is intended to be used to help raise funds for the feature length film.
Ziatun: Resistance Through Food, directed by Sophie Lemmerman
If you’ve ever wandered down Main St in Beacon, you’ve probably noticed the Palestinian flags and calls to action that decorate Ziatun’s storefront. You might have even met Kamel Jamel, the proud restaurateur who calls it his home. But how did this Palestinian chef land in the Hudson Valley, and what is the untold story behind his food?

DocuClubHV is a group that meets monthly in the Hudson Valley to give and receive feedback on documentary works-in-progress (trailers, samples, and rough cuts). The meetings are hosted by doc filmmaker and director of the Borscht Belt Film Festival Melody Gilbert to create conversations, community, and collaborations. All are welcome.
