LaToya Ruby Frazier and Lisa Saltzman Join the Board of Directors at the Center for Photography at Woodstock
Kingston, NY, November 30, 2023–The Center for Photography at Woodstock (CPW) is delighted to announce the addition of two distinguished Trustees to its Board of Directors: LaToya Ruby Frazier and Lisa Saltzman. Both women reflect CPW’s forty-five-year commitment to supporting emerging photographers.
LaToya Ruby Frazier is a prominent visual artist and activist. In 2023, she was awarded CPW’s Vision Award for Photographer of the Year, and in 2008, she was a CPW Artist-in-Residence. Since the age of sixteen, when Frazier began photographing her family and neighborhood in her hometown of Braddock, Pennsylvania, she has expanded the legacy of how photography addresses industrialism, environmental justice, access to healthcare and clean water, family, workers’ and human rights, and communal history. Her publications include From The Coaltips A Tree Will Rise (2017), The Last Cruze (2020), and Flint Is Family In Three Acts (2022), the last a documentation of creative political responses to the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan. Among many other honors and awards, Frazier is the recipient of the prestigious MacArthur Fellowship (2015) and Guggenheim Fellowship (2014). In May 2024, the Museum of Modern Art in New York will open the first museum survey of Frazier’s work.
Lisa Saltzman is a film producer, photographer, philanthropist, and former advertising executive who has had a successful career with such clients as the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Estée Lauder, MAC Cosmetics, Rimmel, and HBO. She is currently developing and producing content for film and television, including serving as Executive Producer of the forthcoming films Deception Road and Mother Jones, as well as the limited series “Chasing Imelda,” focusing on the notorious First Lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos. In honor of her parents, who were passionate art collectors, art patrons and philanthropists, Lisa established the Saltzman Family Foundation to advance the arts. In September 2023, with CPW, she created the Saltzman Prize, an award for Emerging Photographer of the Year. This annual prize will honor an emerging photographer with a $10,000 purse, and give additional funds to CPW to support a solo exhibition of that photographer’s work at CPW’s galleries.
“LaToya Ruby Frazier was artist-in-residence at our Woodstock AIR program in 2008, and since that time we have followed with interest her impressive use of documentary photography to illuminate urgent social issues,” noted CPW Board President Clinton Cargill. “She is an artist of the highest caliber, and we are thrilled that she is helping to steer CPW into its next chapter in Kingston. And Lisa Saltzman’s rich background in photography, film, and philanthropy are a perfect fit for CPW at this point in time. Her generous creation of the Saltzman Prize will enable us to continue to champion the work of emerging artists and photographers.”

Founded in 1977, the Center for Photography at Woodstock is a not-for-profit arts organization with a two-fold mission: to support artists working in photography and related media; and to engage audiences through creation, discovery, and learning. At the heart of CPW’s mission is programming that is community-based, artist-centered, and collaborative. To foster public conversation around critical issues in photography, CPW provides exhibitions, workshops, artists’ residencies, and access to a digital media lab. In 2022, CPW relocated from Woodstock to 474 Broadway in Kingston.
