Announcing the 2016 Woodstock Photography Workshop & Lectures series
The Center for Photography at Woodstock is excited to announce the 39th year of the Woodstock Photography Workshop & Lecture Series.
This nationally distinguished program attracts photographers at all levels and ages to study together with renowned talents from the international field in an intimate hands-on setting. The 2016 series offers a dynamic range of unique offerings, led by celebrated image makers, and includes weekend and multi-day workshops, as well as offerings just for teens.

DEVELOPING YOUR PHOTOGRAPHIC VISION
Enhance your personal practice by focusing in areas of study that will challenge you and broaden your perspective. Learn how a portrait can be expanded into a carefully composed narrative as you work side by side with Kelli Connell. Breathe new life into documentary photography and push the boundaries of what a documentary photography can be with Gregory Halpern. Realign your visual awareness while clarifying your artistic approach with Doug Beasley as he leads you through Zen and the Art of Photography. Learn how to use your digital camera with Joan Barker.

IMAGE MAKING JUST FOR TEENS
CPW is thrilled to offer teens the opportunity to empower themselves through the medium of photography with two creative and fun filled Youth Programs designed especially for ages 13-19. Young artists are invited to develop a personal project and create their own photozine with our returning instructor Jeannette Rodriguez-Pineda. By experiencing a wide range of photographic techniques with Lola Flash, teens are encouraged to discover and hone a unique photographic voice. CPW is pleased to offer scholarships for partial and full tuition. Please submit one paragraph about why you like photography, accompanied by one image by either you or your favorite artists and email before June 19, 2016 to scholarships@cpw.org.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Balancing life and art is fundamental to becoming a career photographer. CPW is pleased to offer these invaluable professional development opportunities in 2016. Thinking about producing a photo book? Gain a deeper understanding of the photographer/editor collaboration process with David Maisel and Alan Rapp. Seeking to achieve and maintain the art and life balance? Learn from the wise with Doug Menuez in Art & Commerce: Feed Your Soul and Your Family. Do you have a great body of work but aren’t sure what to do next? The always popular workshop Getting Known/Being Shown, co-taught by Ariel Shanberg and Carlos Loret de Mola, provides participants with information and advice on how to exhibit, publish, promote, and sustain their creative practice. Get unstuck and break through to the next level, personally, artistically, and professionally with expert advice from Hannah Frieser and Dawoud Bey as they coach you from good to great.

Photography Lecture Series
In conjunction with the Woodstock Photography Workshops, many of this year’s instructors will take part in CPW’S Photography Lecture Series. This intimate setting provides a unique opportunity to hear internationally distinguished photographers and artists talk about their work and share their stories. Talks take place in the gallery at CPW on Friday’s in June through mid-October and will begin at 7:30pm sharp. Admission is $7 for the general public or $5 for CPW members, students, or seniors. Admission for students of the lecturing artist is included in the workshop tuition. See detailed lecture schedule.

The Center for Photography at Woodstock is a leading not-for-profit organization dedicated to supporting artists working in photography and related media and engaging audiences through opportunities in which creation, discovery, and learning are made possible. Since 1977, CPW has offered the Woodstock Photography Workshops and Lecture Series to educate, encourage, inform, and inspire photographers of all ages and at all levels. Held in the bucolic environment of Woodstock, NY, just two hours north of NYC in one of the oldest artist colonies in the nation, participants take the time to make new work, share ideas, learn new techniques, and rekindle their passion for photography in a supportive environment with fellow peers who share their passion. Since the inception of the workshop program, thousands of photography enthusiasts have taken workshops from leading artists, such as Lucien Clergue, Sally Mann, Arnold Newman, Mary Ellen Mark and Stephen Shore.
In addition to the Workshop and Lecture Series, CPW offers year-round programs including exhibition, artist residencies, the regional fellowship fund, access to artist workspace, and more.
